Did you know we have bee colonies on the roof?
Without bees’ pollination, our food supply would decline rapidly – an issue already becoming a reality in many parts of the world.
That’s why we’re happy to share that Parkway Mall’s roof is home to part of Scarborough’s bee population.
Our partnership with Alveole allows us to host two beehives with about 40,000 bees each. As they reach peak population, our queens are producing up to 2,000 eggs every day. Healthy bee populations are the key to a thriving local ecosystem. From creating their own cooling systems to the line of honey production, there’s so much to learn about the bees!
